Nonionic polyacrylamide structural formula: [—CH—CH2—CH—CH2—]n CONH2 CONH2. Polyacrylamide is a chemically active polymer compound. Due to the activity of the amide group on the side chain of the molecule, the polymer obtains many valuable properties. Non-ionic PAM-based flocculants have the following characteristics compared with anionic PAM-based flocculants because they do not contain ionic functional groups: flocculation performance is less affected by water pH and salt fluctuations; under neutral or alkaline conditions, Its flocculation effect(settling velocity)is not as good as that of anionic, but it is worse than anionic in acidic conditions, and the floc strength is stronger than that of anionic polymer flocculant.

Features and performance:

  • Flocculation: PAM can make suspended matter through electric neutralization, bridging adsorption, and flocculation.
  • Adhesiveness: it can be bonded by mechanical, physical and chemical action.
  • Resistance reduction: PAM can effectively reduce the frictional resistance of the fluid, adding a small amount of PAM in water can reduce the resistance by 50-80%.
  • Thickening PAM has a thickening effect under neutral and acid conditions, when the pH value is above 10, PAM is easy to hydrolyze. Thickening will be more pronounced when in a semi-mesh structure.

Application range:

  • Mainly used as flocculant: because the molecular chain contains a certain amount of polar genes, it can adsorb solid particles suspended in water to form large flocs. Accelerating the sedimentation of particles in the suspension accelerates the clarification of the solution, promotes filtration and other effects, and is widely used in the treatment of chemical industry wastewater, waste liquid, and municipal sewage treatment. Especially when the sewage is acidic, it is best used.
  • Used in the petroleum industry, textile industry, paper industry, food industry, building materials industry, electroplating industry, printing and dyeing industry, etc.
